No Definition: On Leadership & Working Motherhood
There’s no one way to have a full life. That’s the point.
No Definition is a podcast for women building ambitious careers and full family lives — and refusing to choose between them. Follow on Spotify, Apple, or wherever you listen to podcasts.
Every week, we sit down with women operating at the very top of their game — entrepreneurs, chief executives, women you’d recognize — who are also building real, full lives at home. We break down what it actually looks like: the frameworks, the tradeoffs, and the systems that let ambition and motherhood coexist. Not perfectly. Sustainably.
Why “No Definition”?
Women are capable of having a fulfilling career at the highest levels, a healthy marriage, and a meaningful experience of motherhood. But increasingly this has felt out of reach, or fraught with guilt, for many of us. And it’s not a lack of ambition or drive - it’s because the system was never built for us.
The school hours, the workplace expectations, the unspoken rules about what a mother “should” be — none of it was built for women who want both. And the data proves it:
Women make up 48% of entry-level employees but only 29% of C-suite positions. For the first time ever, McKinsey’s 2025 Women in the Workplace report found a measurable ambition gap — women are less interested in being promoted than men. Not because they want less. Because the system wasn’t built for them.
Here’s what that same research also found: when women receive the same career support as men, the gap disappears entirely. Being in the workforce and being supported to advance are two very different things. You can have it all, just not by trying harder inside a system that was never designed for you. You get there by questioning it and building your own.
Our Mission
No Definition exists to help more women have both a fulfilling experience of motherhood and career growth.
We provide practical inspiration and guidance from women who are already doing it — setting new rules, charting their own path, and proving that ambition and a full life aren’t in conflict. There’s no defined path for working motherhood. It’s hard and it’s messy, which is why we need to shed light on the women making it work. We’re here to offer ideas and a blueprint so you can chart your own.
Meet Amanda
Amanda Malko founded No Definition after seeing a change among the women working for her - young women increasingly concerned with having children and a family while also striving to be ambitious in their careers.
After Amanda had a child and was faced with her own tough choices between career and family, she began having conversations with every working mother she knew asking them one question — how do you make it all work?
Those conversations became the foundation for No Definition. When not working on No Definition, Amanda continues to thrive in her 20+ year career. She’s held C-level roles four times, worked for private and publicly traded companies to drive billions in exit valuations, and helped found one of the most successful agencies of the twenty-first century. The last several years she’s been figuring out, in real time, how to hold that alongside a full life at home with her wonderful husband Rob and their 6 year old son.
